Healing With Reiki

What is Reiki?

–Reiki is a Japanese word which stands for “Universal Life Force Energy”

–Reiki, which translates to,  universal life force energy,  is an ancient Japanese healing practice which uses energy teachings and treatments to aid in an individual’s self healing and relaxation.  Through “laying of hands” the Reiki practitioner  acts as a channel for healing Reiki energy to pass to the receiver through the chakras (energy centers) of the body.  Reiki treatments evoke deep relaxation, stress reduction and harmonious balance in the body.  Reiki affects not only the energetic and physical body but the mental and emotional self as well.

What happens during a Reiki treatment?

During a Reiki treatment the individual receiving Reiki is fully clothed and either lies down or sits in a chair. The Reiki practitioner often begins the Reiki session with a guided meditation to create a relaxed atmosphere. Often the room is very relaxing with soft music and candles lit for added affect.

As the Reiki practitioner begins the session their hands hover above or rest lightly over various energy points on the body called chakras. During this time the Reiki practitioner is pulling Reiki energy into their body and passing it through to the receiver. The most beautiful aspect of Reiki energy healing is that the receiver is actually pulling the energy where they intuitively need it.  The Reiki practitioner is only a vessel for the energy to pass through while the receiver is the actual drawer of the energy. The receiver only receives healing where they intuitively are allowing.

What does a Reiki treatment feel like?

Most people experience deep relaxation, as well as heat and pulsation where the practitioner’s hands are placed. Some people fall asleep because they become so relaxed during the process. This is completely okay as the energy work is still in progress and often means the person receiving is very willing and in need of the healing. Some individuals who practice mediation regularly describe their experience like a deep meditation and often experience dream like states during the session. Some Reiki practitioners also do intuitive work and if the receiver wishes to discuss their energy experience in depth, a Reiki practitioner can often help explain the receiver’s dream like state in correlation to the chakra points on the body.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

Reiki is extremely beneficial to both the emotional and physical self. It is often used in hospitals to help patients in the healing process and those dealing with chronic pain and health issues.  Reiki is also practiced in many spas for relaxation, and relief from minor physical ailments. Because the body often stores emotional stresses in physical form in the body causing different ailments, some minor and some more extreme. Reiki healing can help individuals heal from old emotional stresses and trauma and over time simultaneously release physical ailments that have long been an issue.

How much does Reiki cost?

Reiki cost can vary depending on location, duration of session, and practitioner. Most pricing will be relative to each other and will not vary too greatly. I offer Reiki to my clients at the following rates:

30 minutes: $45.00

60 minutes: $75.00

90 minutes: $105.00

~ I do however make exceptions for individuals who are in need of Reiki but can not afford standard pricing. These exceptions are made on a per person basis. Some examples of alternatives are  a sliding scale in pricing, bartering for services (a trade of skills/talents/credentials), or assisting me in other work I do such as art installation, art instruction and more.

I try to make Reiki approachable to everyone.

I strongly believe money should never get in the way of well being!
